Swollen muscle, pain, muscle stiffness --- it's very confusing whether we should use cold pack or warm pack. Let's decide which one is appropriate.
1. Ice Pack or Cold Pack:
When:
♦ Swelling
♦ Inflammation
♦ pain
♦ Bleeding
Why:
Cold pack reduces blood flow, numbs the affected body part. It reduces pain, swelling, bleeding.
How to use:
Dampen a towel with cold water and fold it with a plastic bag. Place the bag in freezer for few minutes. Place it on affected body part.
Or, put ice in a plastic bag. Fill the bag with water partially. Make the bag air free and then seal it. Place the bag on affected body part.
2. Warm Pack:
When:
♦ Muscle stiffness or muscle spasm or when muscle is tight.
